Police are hoping to use CCTV footage to identify two young men on the run after shooting a 31-year-old man in a room of a Gold Coast high-rise.

Police allege the two men barged into the room at the Mantra Crown Towers resort at Surfers Paradise on Friday morning, sparking an altercation.

The victim was shot in the stomach before being rushed to hospital around 8am with serious wounds.

Police are unsure if the men knew each other or whether it was a random attack.

But they say there was at least one other person in the hotel room during the shooting.

The suspects are described as being 25-30 years of age.

One was wearing jeans and carrying backpack, while the other was wearing a dart t-shirt and cargo pants.

The weapon allegedly used in the attack has not been found.
