The families of two Australians due for execution in Indonesia say they have been overwhelmed by public support, after they were handed a copy of a mercy campaign petition signed by 150,000 Australians.

In front of a room full of family and friends, piles of paper filled with signatures were presented to Myuran Sukumaran's 82-year-old grandmother Edith Visvanathan and Andrew Chan's friend Damon Smith.

The petition has been simultaneously handed to the Australian and Indonesian Governments.

Speaking in front of a big media contingent, Mrs Visvanathan thanked the Australian Government for all it's doing to save her grandson.
Reading a statement from Chan's family, Smith broke down as he said the prisoner continues pray and smile.

Mercy Campaign organiser Matthew Goldberg said the men have profoundly changed, and that's known.

"The proposition that they must be killed is without justification," Goldberg said.

He reiterated The Mercy Campaign does not end today, with people urged to continue signing the petition online.
