Meusburger earns first WTA title

Yvonne Meusburger has defeated Andrea Hlavackova 7-5 6-2 at the final of the Gastein Ladies to win her first WTA title.

Yvonne Meusburger of Austria won her first WTA title by defeating Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic 7-5 6-2 at the Gastein Ladies on Sunday.

It was Meusburger's second final in as many weeks and third overall. She lost to Romania's Simona Halep in Budapest last week and to Italy's Francesca Schiavone in Bad Gastein six years ago.

The 86th-ranked Meusburger, who didn't drop a set in the tournament, became the first Austrian winner on the WTA tour since Tamira Paszek in Birmingham, England, in June last year.

Hlavackova had never been beyond the quarterfinals before and had not won back-to-back matches this year.
