Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne will take part in a jockey competition at Ascot Racecourse next year.
"After tweeting our congratulations and asking whether the Shergar Cup would be something she would be interested in, Payne responded positively and has since be officially invited by Ascot’s Head of Communications and International Racing, Nick Smith," Ascot said in a statement.
"Normally we wait a little longer to issue invitations but when a lady wins the Melbourne Cup you invite her on the spot,” Mr Smith said.
“She said it’s something she’s always wanted to do, which is a hell of a compliment for us given what she’s just achieved.
"I had a chat with Michelle and she was absolutely charming and said she really wanted to come over and have an invite."
Mr Smith said a woman winning the Melbourne Cup was "one of the most important things ever to happen in racing".
"She is a really good jockey and has shown such enthusiasm to ride in our event, which is great to see," he said.
"I'm sure she will be a fantastic addition to the Girls' team next year."
The Shergar Cup sees four teams of jockeys compete over six races.
