Milford sorry for pulling Panther's hair

Brisbane playmaker Anthony Milford says the "heat of the battle" got the better of him when he pulled Penrith's Corey Harawira-Naera's hair on Friday night.

Brisbane star Anthony Milford regrets pulling the hair of Penrith NRL forward Corey Harawira-Naera, saying the "heat of the battle" got the better of him.

Milford was charged with contrary conduct and fined $1150 for the incident, which occurred in backplay in the dying stages of the Broncos' 50-18 thumping of the Panthers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Milford then ran away as an angry Harawira-Naera chased after him while his Panthers teammates continued to attack.

Josh McGuire was also caught on camera tugging at Harawira-Naera's curly locks earlier in the game but escaped punishment.

"I apologised to him after the game and spoke to him," Milford said.

"It was heat of the battle emotion and it just happened.

"It was an up and down game at the start. That's what happens when they keep sending their big boys out.

"You want to do your best to stop them. The heat of the battle got the better of me and a bit of frustration.

"I'm moving forward from that."
