Larrissa Miller has beaten out the country's most successful gymnast, Lauren Mitchell, to secure Australia's sole artistic gymnastics berth at the Rio Olympics.

Miller was one of three gymnasts named to compete at the Games on Wednesday, joining Danielle Prince, who makes her Olympic debut in the rhythmic gymnastics, and Blake Gaudry in the men's trampoline.

The 23-year-old Miller, who was part of the women's team at the 2012 London Olympics, got the nod ahead of Mitchell after beating the former world champion in the floor final at the recent national championships.
