Australian world No.52 John Millman is eyeing a deep run at the Swedish Open after mercilessly disposing of Guido Andreozzi 6-0 6-2 in the opening round.

Millman will face another Argentinian, Federico Delbonis, in the second round with a possible clash against enigmatic Italian Fabio Fognini for a place in the semi-finals on the cards should he be successful.

Elsewhere, Fernando Verdasco took three sets to dispatch Italy's Lorenzo Sonego while there were also victories for Simone Bolelli, Thiago Monteiro and Gerald Melzer.

Former world No.3 and 2013 French Open finalist David Ferrer was leading Zdenek Kolar of the Czech Republic 3-2 when play was suspended due to rain.
