Ministers urged to reveal lobbyist links

A Greens motion, backed by the Senate, calls on government ministers to publicly reveal meetings with former colleagues who've become lobbyists.

The Senate has voted to demand Turnbull government ministers publicly reveal whether they've met with former colleagues-turned-lobbyists.

The Greens motion, backed by Labor and crossbench senators on Wednesday, orders the government to publish details of meetings with former ministers at which lobbying took place, within 18 months of them having left the ministry.

"Sunlight is the best antidote to the corroding influence of the big polluters, and we hope forcing the government to disclose such meetings will go some way to restoring our democracy," Greens senator Larissa Waters said.
