AP - Minjee Lee has slipped five shots off the lead at the halfway mark of the inaugural LPGA Volvik Championship in Michigan.

The 19-year-old Australian carded a second-round two-under par 70 on Friday to move to six-under overall and be tied for eighth.

Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn shot a 68 to sit at the top of the leaderboard at 11-under, two shots clear of So Yeon Ryu of South Korea and American duo Marina Alex and Christina Kim.

Jessica Korda (65), Giulia Molinaro (67) and Brittany Lincicome (67) were another two shots back.

Jutanugarn has a chance to become the first player to win three consecutive LPGA tournaments since Park In-bee pulled off the trifecta in 2013.

New Zealand's world No.1 Lydia Ko carded a second-straight 71 to be tied for 27th.

Of the other Australians, Sarah Jane Smith (73) is at one-over and Katherine Kirk (69) and Sarah Kemp (75) are a stroke behind while Su Oh (70) missed the cut.

Jutanugarn had four back-nine birdies, including on 18 when her approach went off a hospitality suite and landed in a greenside bunker 20 yards from the hole. Her sand shot set her up for a short putt.

She is coming off a win at the Kingsmill Championship after becoming the first Thai winner in tour history the previous week in Alabama.
