Australian teenager Minjee Lee is contending for a maiden US LPGA Tour victory at the Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.
Former world No.1 amateur Lee shot a two-under-par 69 on Saturday to be two shots behind the leader, France's Perrine Delacour, heading into the final round.
The 18-year-old from WA, who only turned professional last September, was in a three-way tie for third place at nine-under-par after hanging tough.
"It was kind of a grind," Lee said. "I mean, I didn't really stuff it up or just play amazing golf. I was just kind of in between. I had a good couple birdies and I had good scrambles."
The 21-year-old Delacour, winless in two seasons on the LPGA Tour, birdied three of the final five holes for a 67 and took advantage of American Alison Lee's late two-hole meltdown to top the leaderboard.
After opening a four-stroke lead, 20-year-old Alison Lee dropped back with a bogey on the par-4 16th and a four-putt double bogey on the par-3 17th as she finished with a 70, leaving her a stroke behind.
Paula Creamer, So Yeon Ryu were tied with Minjee Lee at nine-under.
Top-ranked Lydia Ko was tied for 20th at three-under after a 70.
