Minjee Lee well placed to strike in LPGA

A third round six-under 66 has Australian Minjee Lee in a favourable position heading into the final round of the LPGA Manulife Classic.

Australia's Minjee Lee has fired a six-under 66 to stay in contention after the third round of the LPGA Manulife Classic.

Lee carded an eagle and five birdies to finish her round in a tie for fifth, three strokes behind Korea's Mi Hyang Lee at Whistle Bear.

Her only blemish in an otherwise brilliant round came with a bogey on the par 4 second hole.

Fellow Australian Sarah Jane Smith shot her best round of the tournament with a four-under 68, putting her in a a tie for 37th.

Top-ranked Lydia Ko enjoyed the round of the day, shooting a bogey-free 64 to move into a tie for seventh at 10-under par.

"It's a little calmer today than the past two days," the New Zealander said.

"Especially around a course like this when the wind is calm, you know that there are going to be some low numbers out there."

Ariya Jutanugarn also shot a 66, leaving her two strokes back in her bid win three straight events for the second time this season.

After winning three straight events in May, the 20-year-old Thai player began the latest streak at the Women's British Open.

She rebounded from a knee injury that forced her to withdraw during the Rio Olympics to win the Canadian Pacific Women's Open last week in Alberta for her fifth victory of the year.
