Missing Qld schoolgirls found

Two teenage girls who disappeared from the Gold Coast on Thursday have been found safe and well at Gympie.

Two Gold Coast schoolgirls who have been missing since Thursday have been found.

Emma Howarth, 13, and her friend Holly Goodwin, 14, were spotted in Gympie, about 250km from home, around lunchtime on Monday and were taken to the local police by a member of the public.

Emma's mother, Elsa, expressed her relief on Facebook.

"Our little girls have been found," she said.

"I have no details and do not know when we will be reunited.

"I feel like my life has just come off hold again."

Ms Howarth had spent the weekend searching the streets desperately trying to find the girls.

The pair were last seen at Emma's home in Mudgeeraba about 7pm on Thursday, when Holly headed there for a sleepover.

Holly's mother Sarah Goodwin said the girls weren't naughty but were "unhappy" and had been victims of bullying.

Police appealed for public help to find the teenagers on Monday morning, after inquiries failed to shed any light on their whereabouts.

Police issued a statement at 1.20pm, which stated Emma and Holly had been found.

"The girls were taken to local police in the Gympie area by a member of the public a short time ago," the statement said.

"They are both safe and well."
