Six-year-old boy Canberra boy Phoenix Mapham has been located more than a week after he went missing.
ACT Police tweeted on Thursday night that the child was discovered "safe and well" in the NSW region of Carwoola.
He was last seen in a white 1999 Holden Vectra sedan on August 23.
Phoenix’s mother, Tessa Woodcock, was found near the area that the youngster was located, and was arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station.
A police statement confirmed that Ms Woodcock would face charges relating to the "unlawful taking of Phoenix Mapham".
The child will be brought to the ACT to be reunited with his father and would also undergo medical checks.
“Our focus since last Thursday has been the safety of Phoenix. It is tremendous news that he has been found, and that he is safe and well,” Detective Sergeant Harry Hains said.
“Many people provided information during the investigation. This was invaluable, and helped ACT Policing, NSW Police Force, and other agencies to find Phoenix this afternoon.”
“At the conclusion of this extensive police operation, on behalf of ACT Policing I would like to express sincere thanks to the Canberra community, and the many people from the surrounding region who provided information in the week-long search."
More to come.
