Missing trawler search off WA continues

Police are looking for any signs of an oil slick to suggest the underwater location of a trawler missing off WA's Pilbara coast.

A search plane is looking for any signs of an oil slick to help find three fisherman and their missing trawler off Western Australia's Pilbara coast.

Mason Carter, 26, Chad Fairley, 30, and 57-year-old Murray Turner failed to return to Point Samson near Karratha in their 13-metre prawn trawler named the Returner last Wednesday morning.

An unused life raft, emergency locator beacon, ration supplies and fishing gear washed up along the Burrup Peninsula the next day.

Police are now scouring a 200sq km area for the vessel's underwater location after an extensive land, sea and air search failed to find the men.

Police boat the Delphinus has also re-joined the search team after being re-deployed to intercept an asylum seeker boat spotted about 150km off Dampier on Monday.

A "Bring the boys home" GoFundMe page has raised more than $130,000 to continue the family's own search efforts.

On Facebook, Chad Fairley's brother Kane posted his thanks to everyone who had helped and said he couldn't imagine life without "Wick".

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I have tried my hardest and I won't give up until we find you."
