Australian Mitch Larkin has claimed his second short course World Cup gold medal in the space of a week, winning the 100m backstroke in Moscow.

Larkin, who finished fourth in the 100m backstroke and second in the 200m at the Rio Olympics, came from behind to win in 49.62 seconds ahead of Pavel Sankovich and fellow-Australian Bobby Hurley.

Larkin's win came after he claimed the 200m backstroke gold in Berlin last week.

Hurley then claimed his second medal of the Moscow meet when he finished second behind British star James Guy in the 400m freestyle.

Emily Seebohm claimed Australia's other two medals in the first night of competition, finishing third in the 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle finals.
