Mitton guides Kookaburras to Germany win

Australia has started its hockey Test series against Germany in strong form, earning a 2-0 win courtesy of a double from Trent Mitton.

Trent Mitton has scored a double to give the Australian men's hockey team a 2-0 first Test win over Germany in the town of Moers overnight.

Mitton's goals both came in the third term to put victory out of reach for the home side.

The next match in the series is on Monday morning (AEST).

It is a warm-up for next week's Champions Trophy in the Netherlands, where the Kookaburras have a tough group.

They are in the same pool as the home side, Rio Olympic gold medallists Argentina, Belgium, Pakistan and India.

Australia's opening match is against Belgium at 2am (AEST) next Sunday.
