A molotov cocktail has been found under a car parked at an Adelaide home by police investigating a disturbance.

Officers were called to a house in Edwardstown about 3.45am.

As they approached the front door, they heard a noise coming from a car parked in the driveway.

They spotted a glass jar with a taped lid under the car.

There was also a smell and vapour coming from the jar.

People at the home were unaware of the cocktail.

Members from the police Explosive Device Section and the MFS Hazmat team were working to remove the jar safely.
