Monadelphous wins new work

Engineering firm Monadelphous has won a $680 million contract to work on a gas project in Darwin.

Engineering group Monadelphous's shares have jumped after it clinched a $680 million construction contract for work on the Ichthys gas project in Darwin.

The company will install piping, mechanical and structural steel for the utility and offsite area of the facilities.

Work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed by mid-2016.

The Ichthys project involves the piping of liquefied natural gas from the Browse Basin off the Kimberley coast to Darwin for processing and export.

Monadelphous's shares were up $1.02, or 6.2 per cent, at $17.60 at 1243 AEDT.
