Romania's Monica Niculescu has upset top seed Petra Kvitova in the WTA Luxembourg Open final with a 6-4 6-0 victory.

The unseeded 29-year-old's first WTA Tour title for more than two years came as Kvitova's game abandoned her in the second set.

The Czech was broken five times in the match as she struggled with her serve and, despite battling from 4-1 down to 4-3 in the opening set, the double Wimbledon champion was never able to get on terms.

"I felt fantastic on the court, and after I took the first set I felt even better. I was feeling very light on the court and was catching every ball. I felt like nothing surprised me," Niculescu said.
