Moon heads home after Super League stint

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed versatile Australian back Joel Moon will leave the club at the end of this Super League campaign.

Former Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand Warriors back Joel Moon is heading home to Australia after enjoying a successful Super League carer with Leeds.

The 30-year-old five-eighth or centre joined the Rhinos from Salford in 2013 and made 164 appearances in a stint highlighted by two Challenge Cup final victories.

Moon is off contract at the end of this season and would not entertain a seventh season at Headingley.

"The time is right now for me and my young family to head home to Australia but I will leave at the end of the season with so many incredible memories," he said.

Leeds director of rugby Kevin Sinfield, a former team-mate, wished Moon well.

"Joel has been an outstanding servant for the Rhinos and one of the most exciting players for supporters and teammates alike," he said.
