Moore to crack centenary for Brumbies

As Stephen Moore prepares for his milestone Super Rugby game for the Brumbies against the Crusaders, he says the focus is squarely on the team performance.

No player has reached the 200-game milestone in Super Rugby, but Stephen Moore is slowly edging toward that mark.

The skipper will make his 100th appearance for the Brumbies against the Crusaders on Saturday, bringing his career tally to 146 since debuting for the Reds in 2003.

Only seven others have played more matches.

"I haven't looked at that," the typically-understated Moore said when asked how many games he had left in him.

"It's an interesting point because you look at the AFL and the Premier League in the UK even moreso, guys are racking up 600-700 games there - guys like Steven Gerrard, who's a hero of mine.

"So, nothing's out of reach I guess!"

While Moore knows individual milestones are important, they play second fiddle to the team's aspirations.

The Brumbies are hunting a final-round win for a crack at a top-two finish - a goal the 32-year-old is intent on achieving.

"Those personal achievements are good, I guess, but the focus is squarely on the team's success this week and going out there and playing well as a team," he said.

"And if we do that, I'll be really happy."

Moore's teammates didn't even know about his milestone game.

"And that's the type of guy Steve is - he always talks about milestones, they're something at the end of his career that he'll look back on," said halfback Nic White.

"But he doesn't like to stop along the way and talk about them too much.

"Obviously it's a huge moment for him, he's done a lot for the club and we'd love to get the win for him.

"But he'll be the first to say it's about the team, it's about playing really good footy and not going in our shell."
