More Aussies fall early at Trestles

Jack Freestone and Stuart Kennedy have joined the early Aussie exodus at the Hurley Pro in California.

Stuart Kennedy and Jack Freestone have joined Aussie big guns Matt Wilkinson, Owen Wright and Joel Parkinson in making early exits from the Hurley Pro at Trestles.

Kennedy was sent packing in the second round by fellow Australian Adrian Buchan who put down a total score of 14.60 to Kennedy's 13.70, largely thanks to an 8.0 wave late in their heat.

Freestone was taken down by Brazil's Italo Ferreira, who delivered a ripping 360 degree air on his first wave in small conditions to put Freestone on the back foot with an 8.50 and an impressive two-wave total of 15.93.

Freestone couldn't quite match him with scores of 7.17 and 7.57 to bow out.

While neither Freestone nor Kennedy are in the world title hunt the early exits of Wright and Wilkinson on Monday could severely hurt their championship chances with series leader Jordy Smith of South Africa and second-placed John John Florence into the third round.

Julian Wilson, who is fifth in the world title race and won the recent Billabong Pro in Tahiti, is also in the third round and will face fellow Australian Ethan Ewing
