More detail sought on citizenship bill

Parliament's human rights committee is seeking information from the immigration minister about controversial citizenship-stripping legislation.

Parliament's human rights committee wants to know if stripping citizenship from terrorism suspects will in fact address national security concerns.

It wants to know if there's reason or evidence behind the bill's objective and if limits on rights are reasonable or proportionate, committee chair Philip Ruddock told the lower house on Tuesday.
