Australia coach Darren Lehmann has given opener David Warner a pre-Ashes rocket, saying the left-hander had a disappointing tour of the Caribbean.
Warner battled his way to a 110-ball 62 in the second innings of the second Test against the West Indies in Jamaica.
It was the 28-year-old's only score over 50 on the tour after making 8, 28 and a three-ball duck in his other knocks.
It's a far cry from last year's tour of the United Arab Emirates against Pakistan and the home series against India when Warner made 666 runs in six Tests including four hundreds and one fifty.
"I think he's struggled this tour," Lehmann said.
"He batted well in the second innings here (Jamaica).
"It would be nice for him to get some big runs.
"At the end of the day, he's about making runs and that's what we need from him."
Another player who needs to find form ahead of the Ashes is Shane Watson.
The all-rounder has averaged 27.40 with the bat and 45.66 with the ball in his past six Tests.
In the Caribbean Watson made a top score of 36 in two innings and claimed just one wicket from 16 overs in the series.
"We would have liked more runs," Lehmann said of the 33-year-old.
"I thought he bowled really well today. He had some pace back which is pleasing.
"He's getting there."
