More graves in Sydney for Jews and Muslims

An extra 6,700 extra burial spaces have been allocated for Jewish and Muslim people at Sydney's overcrowded Rookwood Cemetery.

An extra 6,700 extra burial spaces have been allocated for Jewish and Muslim people at Sydney's overcrowded Rookwood Cemetery.

 

It comes as the Muslim community has been met with an acute shortage of available burial space in the cemetery.

 

NSW Primary Industries Minister Katrina Hodgkinson told David Crisante the new Muslim sites will be used immediately, whereas the Jewish sites will be used once the existing area at Rookwood is filled.
