More people getting NDIS: report

More than 17,000 people with disability are receiving care packages under the national disability insurance scheme.

An extra 3000 people with disability are receiving new care packages under the national disability insurance scheme.

Latest figures released on Monday show 17,303 people are now under the scheme, following the addition of 3693 participants since March 31.

While the cost of the scheme is hitting almost $1 billion, average package costs appear to be dropping compared to the last quarter, at $33,597 each.
