More sex abuse inquiry private hearings

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse will return to three cities this week for another round of private hearings.

The child sex abuse royal commission will hold another round of private sessions in three cities this week due to strong demand from victims.

Almost 700 people have shared their experiences since the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse started private sessions in May.

Commissioners will again be in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide from Wednesday.

CEO Janette Dines said the royal commission had visited each of these cities a number of times due to the strong demand in each location.

She said the private hearings showed where and how systems had failed child victims.

"By telling their story, victims can help to make institutions safer for children," Ms Dines said.
