England captain Eoin Morgan has slammed the International Cricket Council's potential move to reduce the size of bats after the World Cup.
Speaking in Sydney ahead of the first of two warm-up games at the SCG against the West Indies, starting on Monday, Morgan said he disagreed vehemently with comments made by ICC chief executive David Richardson last week.
Richardson said after AB de Villiers smashed a century off 31 balls for South Africa that the the balance between batsman and bowler "may have shifted a bit too much".
But Morgan, who bats at five for England, hit back at the suggestion, claiming the rules in place already suit the fielding sides.
"I think its ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous," Morgan said.
"The fact that you can concentrate on the bat size where the rule changes have been made so that you bowl with two new balls.
"The ball is never any older than 25 overs and you have an extra man in the circle.
"That's a point in itself. I've not come across a bat yet where I've said 'this is ridiculous.'"
Despite losing heavily to Australia in the final of the tri-series in Perth last week Morgan believes his side are in good shape for the World Cup starting next week, having beaten India twice.
"The refocus has to be us as a side," he said.
"If we front up and play as well as we can then of course we can beat Australia."
"They've had the momentum throughout the summer but we've had guys performing consistently and this is what we're striving to do."
