Morris has unfinished Origin business

NSW winger Brett Morris is desperate to taste the joy of a State of Origin series win after an injury denied him the chance to play the second match in 2014.

Brett Morris will look no further than NSW's last series win for motivation ahead of next week's State of Origin, declaring he has unfinished business to attend to.

Morris was one of the real heroes of the Blues' 2014 success, after he played on in Game I in Brisbane with torn ligaments from a dislocated shoulder, suffered while scoring NSW's first try.

He even managed to hold up a rampaging Darius Boyd late in the match to help the Blues cling on for victory, presenting them with the chance to clinch the series in Sydney.

Three weeks later when Jarryd Hayne ran the ball towards Blatchy's Blues to end eight years of NSW misery, the former St George Illawarra winger's reward was to be stuck watching the match from the sidelines at ANZ Stadium.

"To play in that 2014 series and miss the rest through injury was hard to cop," Morris said.

"It was disappointing that I had that injury and couldn't be out there with the boys."

On Wednesday night though, the now 30-year-old Morris says he is ready for his moment of Origin glory.

A World Cup and premiership winner, Morris has rode the wave of Origin embarrassment in 2010 to the far more formidable outfit that is NSW in 2017.

He has four times taken to the field in matches where the Blues could clinch the series but is yet to walk away a winner.

The last of those efforts came in 2015, when NSW were humiliated 52-6 by the Maroons, before injuries dogged his 2016 campaign.

"It is (unfinished business)," Morris said.

"I've got that opportunity now and want to make the most of it."

The Canterbury winger was one of the Blues' best in their 28-4 win over Queensland last month.

He formed a lethal combination with Hayne, as he busted through six tackles and made two linebreaks for 152 metres - his biggest output since Game III, 2012.

It came after he was only selected in the squad following the leg injury to Manly youngster Tom Trbojevic, who was originally considered a certain pick on the right wing.

Morris himself will be monitored at training throughout the camp, but is in no danger of missing next week's clash with a niggling knee injury.

"It's just about trying to look after the body properly so it looks after you," he said.

"I've certainly had knee injuries in the past and it's something I've got to stay on top of."
