A slightly husky Scott Morrison is coming off a high after a fairytale weekend for his beloved Cronulla Sharks by jetting to New York.

The federal treasurer is off to the Big Apple to meet with the heads of credit ratings agencies and the International Monetary Fund.

"I was a lot huskier yesterday," Mr Morrison told Ray Hadley on Radio 2GB on Tuesday.

"It was just a fairytale weekend."

Fresh from celebrating with fellow NRL fans at Shark Park on Monday after the grand final victory, Mr Morrison is disappointed he won't be around this week for the rest of the party.

"It's going to go on all week ... but you know (it's) back to work."
