Morrison pins wage rise on business tax

Stronger wages can be delivered if corporate tax is cut and businesses are given a chance to boost the economy, the federal treasurer says

Treasurer Scott Morrison says higher pay rates for Australians can only be delivered if the economy grows and all businesses get a tax cut.

The federal government plans to introduce the second half of its business tax package when parliament resumes next week.

"The key to ensuring that Australians can see their wages grow, they can see their incomes improve, is to ensure our economy continues to grow and the businesses that drive that growth ... are in a better position to share that growth with their workers," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra on Monday.
