Singer Morrissey was stunned by the runaway success of his bestselling memoir, revealing the book's popularity left him "breathless".
The former The Smiths frontman released his hotly-anticipated life story, titled Autobiography, in 2013 and it spent five weeks at the top of the book charts in his native UK, selling 35,000 copies in its first week and becoming Britain's fastest-selling rock book.
Now the star has admitted he was shocked by the level of attention his memoir received.
"I felt a bit rash hoping for a number seven position, so when it came in at number one and stayed there for five weeks... I was breathless," he told Billboard.com.
"It's sold more than I ever imagined."
