Mossop out for Eels and England

Lee Mossop has confirmed that a shoulder injury has scuppered his NRL season and a likely Four Nations series with England.

Parramatta prop Lee Mossop has been ruled out for the rest of the season, effectively forcing him out of the 2014 Four Nations Series for England.

The 25-year-old former Wigan favourite sat out the first three months of the NRL season due to shoulder surgery after completing his commitments with England at the 2013 World Cup.

Mossop eventually made his debut for the Eels against North Queensland last month but sustained another injury to his left shoulder against Melbourne a fortnight ago and is now facing more surgery.

"Gutted that I won't get to finish the season with the boys," Mossop tweeted.

"My debut season with the Eels hasn't gone like I wanted it to but that's life and I'll work hard to make up for it next year."

Mossop, who was in the Wigan team that completed the Super League and Challenge Cup double in 2013, joined Parramatta on a two-year deal with an option for a third season.
