An Adelaide mother of four has been jailed for at least four years for trying to hire a hitman to kill her former husband.
Doris Ann Brundritt, 46, admitted paying an undercover policeman $12,500 to murder Ian Brundritt in January last year.
Her plot was uncovered when Mr Brundritt was tipped off and went to police, with detectives setting up a sting operation.
Brundritt paid $5000 up front and then the remaining $7500 after the undercover officer convinced her the job had been done, showing her the intended victim's driver's licence.
Passing sentence in the Supreme Court on Friday, Justice Kevin Nicholson said Brundritt's conduct was not isolated and she had considered a similar plot in 2010 in response to emotional and physical abuse from her husband.
But he said her actions were an "utterly disgraceful" way to resolve her problems.
It was also unfortunate that there were unscrupulous people in the community who were willing to kill for relatively small sums of money, Justice Nicholson said.
Brundritt pleaded guilty to one count of soliciting to murder and was jailed for seven years and nine months with a non-parole period of four years.
