US heavy metal band Motley Crue have backtracked over comments suggesting they will break up after their world tour, insisting they are only retiring from live shows.
Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars staged a press conference in Los Angeles last week and declared they wanted to "go out on top" and leave a legacy behind by bowing out after completing The Final Tour, which will kick off later this year.
The bandmates of 33 years even signed a legally-binding Cessation Of Touring contract, banning them from heading out on the road under the Motley Crue name again.
But Neil has now revealed the hitmakers won't be gone for good, claiming they will continue to record new material in the studio.
He told Phoenix, Arizona's 93.3 KDKB radio station, "Motley Crue will still be around, we're just not gonna tour anymore. That's really kind of it.
"Motley Crue's not breaking up. We're still gonna be making music. We're still selling merchandise," Neil said.
He also said there is one exception to the group's live show ban: "If (we're) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, would (we) get back together? Probably so. But that would probably be it."
