A motorbike rider has been hit and killed after running a red light while trying to evade police in Melbourne.

A motorbike rider has been killed in Melbourne after he rode through a red light intersection while trying to evade police.

The man, aged in his 30s, was hit by another car in the intersection in Oakleigh about 3am.

The death takes Victoria's road toll to 130 compared to 125 this time last year.
