Motorcyclist dies in crash near Young

A group of three motorcyclists were involved in a crash with a truck near Young and one of the riders has died.

A motorcyclist has died after an accident involving a semi-trailer near Young in NSW.

Three motorcyclists were travelling together on the Olympic Highway when one of the riders was struck by the trailer of a B-double just after 10am on Friday, according to police.

A second rider was also injured, while the third motorcyclist escaped injury.

Police say the motorcyclist died at the scene and the highway was closed between Cowra and Young while the scene was examined.

The age of the deceased is not known.

Earlier on Friday, police said a woman had been killed and a man airlifted to hospital following a two-car crash in Sydney's northwest the previous evening.

They said the woman, believed to be aged 65, died at the scene when her hatchback and a ute collided on Wylds Road at Arcadia.

She was the sole occupant of the car.

A man believed to be aged 50-60, who also was driving alone, was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
