Movember men urged to halve moustaches

Australians who have grown moustaches for Movember have been asked to shave them in half in honour of men who've died earlier than they could've.

Thousands of Aussie men who've grown moustaches for Movember are being urged to shave them in half before they bid them farewell.

The Movember Foundation, which runs the hairy month-long campaign, says the move is aimed at paying homage to men who've died too young from preventable causes.

The organisation says 468 Australian men died from prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide this month.

"Like a half-mast flag flown for those lost, the half-mast mo pays homage to the men who should have been by our side this Movember," Movember Foundation country director Charlotte Webb said.

"The men's health crisis stops for no one and Australian men are still dying, on average, four years younger than women for no biological reason."

More than 71,000 Australian men and women registered to support Movember in 2017, which raises funds for men's health causes.
