Moves are underway to oust West Australian Legislative Council deputy clerk Nigel Lake from the position amid allegations he carried a baseball bat and disguise near his boss' home.

A report by the Standing Committee on Procedures and Privileges on Wednesday recommended "that under no circumstances would it be tenable" for Lake to retain his job, based on a finding of a loss of confidence in him.

Lake was suspended from duties after he was arrested on the night of February 17 in City Beach.

He has pleaded not guilty to possessing a disguise, carrying an article with intent to cause fear and unlawful use of a tracking device, and is scheduled to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on August 18 to determine when he will stand trial.
