Movie World ride leaves people hanging

Distressed thrillseekers have spent more than three minutes hanging upside down about 20 metres off the ground after a ride at Movie World suddenly stopped.

Thrillseekers were left hanging upside down on the Doomsday Destroyer ride at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

Video of Thursday's incident shows a number of passengers trapped in their harnesses about 20 metres off the ground, and witnesses say some were distressed and crying as blood rushed to their heads.

Movie World said the ride's safety system kicked in and halted it mid-cycle. The passengers were stranded for three and a half minutes and left the ride normally. It has apologised for any distress caused.
