Moylan NRL saga not hurting Penrith: coach

Anthony Griffin has downplayed talk of Matt Moylan's uncertain future at the club, and says it has had no influence on Penrith's final-round NRL performance.

Matt Moylan's uncertain future at Penrith had no impact on their 28-12 NRL drubbing at the hands of Manly, according to coach Anthony Griffin.

Moylan and his manager will meet Penrith officials on Monday, after Panthers chief executive Brian Fletcher had confirmed the captain as being only a 50-50 chance to stay at the club next year.

Despite Moylan being contracted to the Panthers until the end of 2021, Fletcher told News Corp Australia on Friday they wouldn't stand in the five-eighth's way if he received a better offer elsewhere.

Griffin was coy on Saturday night when questioned about Moylan's future, but insisted it had no bearing on the team's performance.

"It didn't have any part of our preparation," Griffin said.

"We'll deal with that in-house."

When asked whether he would be part of Monday's meetings, and about CEO Fletcher's comments, Griffin again attempted to downplay the situation.

"I meet with all my players," he said.

"I won't be commenting with what's been in the media.

"I haven't read it; it didn't come from us. So we won't be commenting on it."

Moylan and fullback Dylan Edwards are no certainties to return for next week's elimination final against Manly or Cronulla.

But regardless, Griffin was confident his 17 from Saturday night could bounce back, having trailed 28-0 after the first hour.

"They're both still in rehab," he said.

"The team we had out there tonight can do a better job."
