Matt Moylan has reportedly committed to a contract that will keep him at Penrith until the end of the 2020 NRL season.
Ending speculation he was set to leave the club, media reports said the 26-year-old would not be seeking a release.
Moylan had been linked with a move to Cronulla in a reported swap-deal with the Sharks' premiership-winning five-eighth James Maloney.
There had also been suggestions of a switch to the Wests Tigers to join ex-Panthers coach Ivan Cleary.
But Fairfax Media reported on Friday Moylan's management had confirmed the utility back would be staying at Penrith.
Moylan, one of the NRL's genuine match-winners, played 18 games for Penrith in 2017 but he missed the finals series as the club allowed him to deal with personal issues.
Penrith's season ended in the second week of the finals when beaten 13-6 by Brisbane.
Moylan signed a long-term Penrith contract last year and news of the skipper's decision not to seek a release comes after coach Anthony Griffin signed on for a two-year extension.
Griffin's new deal takes him through until the end of the 2020 season after steering the club to successive finals campaigns.
