MPs fail to sign for expense claims

More than 100 federal politicians have missed at least one of the required six-monthly certifications of their expense claims.

Release NBN policy, not survey: Conroy

Stephen Conroy.

Some federal politicians are failing to certify their expense claims despite repeated requests from bureaucrats.

Labor senator Stephen Conroy only recently signed certification forms for expenses dating back to 2011 while independent MP Bob Katter still has outstanding paperwork from four years ago, the ABC reports.

MPs are required to sign a form every six months certifying their expense claims but there's no punishment for the more than 100 MPs the ABC found had failed to do so at least once.
