Mullen to lead Knights in Auckland Nines

Newcastle have named an 18-man squad for the Auckland Nines, with Jarrod Mullen to skipper the Knights at the Auckland rugby league tournament.

Jarrod Mullen has been named captain of an 18-man Newcastle squad for the Auckland Nines.

10 of this year's Knights squad, including Nathan Ross, Paterika Vaivai, and Tyler Randell, will get their first taste of the Nines format when the tournament kicks off on January 31 at Eden Park.

All three Mata'utia brothers have been included, while it will be the first game for recruits Jack Stockwell and Carlos Tuimavave.

Under 20s captain Danny Levi has also been selected after training with the NRL squad over the summer.

The Knights have been grouped with Parramatta, Manly and St George Illawarra.
