Anthony Mundine's January 29 bout in Brisbane will go ahead despite American opponent Carson Jones withdrawing due to illness.

Jones's camp informed Mundine's manager Khoder Nasser over the weekend that Jones had influenza and wouldn't be able to fight the Australian.

Nasser says despite speculation the withdrawal had put the entire fight night in jeopardy, a replacement would be found for Mundine in time for the bout to go ahead.

"It's happened before and Sam Soliman stepped in the last time," Nasser told AAP.

"It's one of those things, it happens but it happens rarely."

Nasser said he was in discussion with four fighters to replace Jones and was hopeful a name could be announced as early as Monday evening.

"Some fighters never get an opportunity, they're always looking for something like this to happen," he said.

"Somewhere in the next 24-48 hours (we'll have someone) ... as we speak we've got four possible opponents, so the fight will go ahead."

Rugby star Quade Cooper is also set to feature on the undercard at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, taking on 40-year-old Warren Tresidder.
