Anthony Mundine has announced he will fight legendary American boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley this October.
Mundine confirmed the 154-pound bout via social media on Wednesday, labelling the event a "huge and defining moment".
"THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER! I will be fighting Sugar Shane Mosley at 154p. Lets go! Sugar Shane Mosley Signed & Deal DONE! more details to follow" he wrote on Facebook.
"this is goin to be huge and a defining moment. i feel blessed".
The fight, reportedly to be held in Sydney, will be Mundine's first since losing to fellow Australian Daniel Geale in January.
His 41-year-old opponent announced his retirement in June last year having earned five world titles in three weight classes.
But he returned to the ring in May, beating Pablo Cesar Cano by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC international welterweight title in Mexico.
Mosley is 1-3-1 (win-loss-draw) in his last five fights, which have included bouts against stars Manny Pacquiao in 2011 and Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2010.
