Mundine warns Rabchenko of worse beating

Anthny Mundine says he's still awaiting notification of a rematch with Sergey Rabchenko and will hand out a more convincing beating if they do box again.

Anthony Mundine says he will deliver a bigger beating to Sergey Rabchenko if a rematch of their first light middleweight boxing bout goes ahead.

Mundine won a split points decision over the previously unbeaten professional from Belarus when they fought in Melbourne in November.

The two Australian judges scored the fight for the WBC Silver title in Mundine's favour, while the one foreign official from Switzerland had Rabchenko ahead.

Rabchenko'S promoter and former world champion Ricky Hatton said on his website that the WBC's executive committee had ordered an immediate rematch.

However, Mundine told AAP his team had yet to receive any notification of a rematch from the WBC and that he should be able to appeal the decision.

"Hatton has put it all over his website that they've ordered a rematch," Mundine told AAP.

"But they didn't go through the criteria that it's meant to - that we can put our case forward.

"I'm sure once the criteria are done it shouldn't be a problem.

"At the end of the day, I'm more than happy to whoop his arse again, but this time I will do it worse.

"Because in that fight, even though I fought a great fight, I was a bit tentative at times and I could have unleashed a little bit more."

Mundine remains totally convinced he won the fight against Rabchenko.

"Watching the fight back several times, I thought I won it eight rounds to four," the 39-year-old Australian said.

He insisted a rematch with Rabchenko would not necessarily have to be his next fight and revealed he planned to return to the ring around April.

"If we can't get the best, I want to fight top notch guys, someone that's going to give me another platform to build my legacy," Mundine said.

"I'm not going to fight a fringe contender ... I'm going to fight somebody that is very capable and well known and a former world champion."

Mundine attended some of the recent WBC Convention in Las Vegas, where one of the many former world champions who was present was Shane Mosley, who he beat in Sydney in late 2013.
