Murder charge after Melbourne stabbing

A man will face court on a murder charge after the stabbing death of another man in Melbourne's north.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 68-year-old man died of stab wounds in Melbourne's north.

Police believe an altercation took place between the two men at the intersection of Murray and Gilbert roads in Preston at about 4.45pm on Friday.

The older man was stabbed and died at the scene.

A 35-year-old man will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
