Murder charge after Melbourne standoff

A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a Melbourne property's backyard.

A Melbourne man involved in a long standoff with police after another man was found shot dead has been charged with murder.

Officers spent five hours negotiating with the 39-year-old at a Brunswick property after the other man's body was found in the backyard on Monday.

He was taken into custody early on Tuesday, and was due to appear at an out-of-sessions court hearing on Tuesday night.
