Mathematical permutations are complicating the points scenario at the World Tour Finals - but the ins and outs of the sums are having little immediate effect on top title contender Andy Murray.
The world No.1 Scot, who is all but qualified for the weekend semi-finals at the season wrap-up, remains committed only to his tennis after squeezing out an epic Wednesday win over Kei Nishikori at the group stage.
With tennis icons Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal missing from this year's depleted edition, it's down to Murray and his rival for the year-end top ranking, Novak Djokovic, to provide the thrill factor.
While the pair can never quite hope to match the fan euphoria generated by Federer and Nadal, Murray remains convinced that a nail-biting finish to the week is approaching.
"For the tournament, for everyone interested in tennis, a [Murray-Djokovic final] would probably be the perfect way to finish the year," Murray said.
"For me and I'm sure for Novak, both of our goals would be to try to win the event.
"For him, whether that's by beating me, someone else, or for me if it's winning against Novak or another player, it doesn't change for us as players."
Murray, who claimed the top ranking less than a fortnight ago in Paris for the first time in his career, said that he just has to concentrate on his game for a last group match as he aims for the semi-finals.
"It's important to win matches to give yourself the best chance to go through," he said.
"The 200 points for each match here is quite a lot, as well. Obviously that increases as you get into the semis, potentially in the final.
"It could come down to a match between me and Novak. Who knows what's going to happen the next few days."
